Project Scope
The Lowcountry Alliance for Model Communities (LAMC) Area Revitalization Plan is an effort to create action by gathering people together around a unifying vision. In February of 2009, a grass-roots comprehensive planning effort led by seven neighborhoods in the City of North Charleston was launched. The Revitalization Plan presents a process for envisioning the future of the LAMC area and setting a clear action plan that turns a community vision into reality.
Our Work
The City of North Charleston appointed the LAMC Working Group, including APD-U, to develop a baseline existing conditions document and Community Profile. APD-U identified locations within each of the seven neighborhoods with opportunities for infill housing and any zoning and land use changes that may be necessary to properly implement the recommendations in the Revitalization Plan. The Plan should serve as an initial guide to mobilize the community towards early successes – the “low hanging fruit” – and align the institutions that will need to deliver the more complex and longer term plan elements.
