Project Scope

APD Urban Planning and Management, LLC was retained by Edward Waters College to develop, implement, and manage a property acquisition strategy for both commercial and residential properties. Edward Waters College is a historically black college located in a low- to moderate-income community just west of Jacksonville, FL’s central business district. The college received several HUD grants in 2001 and 2002 to acquire and develop a neighborhood retail project along the Kings Rd. Corridor.

Our Work

APD-U implemented a unique property acquisition process starting with establishing interest with prospective sellers through community outreach activities. These outreach activities allowed APD-U to explain the intent of property acquisition and how these properties will be used for redevelopment purposes to benefit the community. Additional property acquisition processes include the review of targeted model block areas, identify property owners interested in selling their property, work with local real estate agents and the Edward Waters College Community Development Corporation, and property records office for research on property ownership.
