Project Scope
The Urban League of Greater Atlanta desired to examine and report on the state of black residents in Georgia. The “State of Black Georgia” report provides an in-depth look into the socioeconomic gaps between blacks and other socioeconomic groups in the State of Georgia. The analysis examines empirical evidence by creating a Black Equity Index for select metropolitan areas within the State of Georgia.
Our Work
The goal of the State of Black Georgia 2022 was to compare the Black and Hispanic communities from select metropolitan areas to the overall state of Georgia. APD-U created an equality index for six (6) select metropolitan areas within the State of Georgia. These Metropolitan areas include Albany, Atlanta, Augusta, Columbus, Macon, and Savannah. APD-U was also tasked with two key tenants throughout the project: replicability and the use of open data.
Deliverables
- Economic, health, social justice, and civic engagement data for black and hispanic populations for the State of Georgia, and the metropolitan areas for Albany, Atlanta, Augusta, Columbus, Macon, and Savannah.
- GIS Maps that reflect the theme of the final report
