Biography

As an Urban Planner, Tia is committed to the integration of advanced technology, research, and community-centered planning to create dynamic solutions concerning cultural and environmental sustainability. 

Prior to joining APD-U, Tia has managed student researchers and planners in environmental-related displacement mitigation research and the development of award-winning neighborhood plans. In these efforts, Tia acquired skills in participatory community engagement and statistical analysis, which informed her later work in health equity and community-engaged research.

Tia has a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Florida A&M University with a research focus on Environmental Justice. She went on to attain a master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning at Florida State University with a concentration in Neighborhood and Environmental Planning. Tia hopes to use her knowledge and expertise to be of service to historically marginalized communities and empower members to participate in planning processes to create sustainable change.
